A LOOK BACK...

Bridge construction in war-torn nations is nothing new to America’s military engineers. The February 1946 issue of The Military Engineer included the story of how a 1,540-ft barge bridge was constructed on the Rhine, replacing a burned pile bridge, immediately after the German army had abandoned the opposite riverbank.
