  • NEWS OF NOTE . . . . .

  • 2008 Post Awards. Your Post had a "clean sweep", winning all six streamer awards with the highest level of distinction possible.  This garnered us Distinguished Post for the 15th year in a row PLUS the Top Large Post for 2008—a first!.  We also expanded from 67 to 75 Sustaining Members.  We will "pin on" the new "year bars" and silver stars to our many streamers during the July luncheon meeting.  At the individual level, Mary Anderson, Schnabel Engineering, won the Walter O. Bachus Gold Medal for 2008 and Karin Lynn the Academy of Fellows Mentoring Award.  Formal National SAME presentations will be May 13th at Salt Lake City, UT.  Congratulations to Mary, Karin, and all members and firms for these special honors and check out our AWARDS page.

    OTHER POST DEVELOPMENT'S . . . . .

    • Our Post 60th Year Anniversary Celebration on December 10, 2008 was a huge success.  We thank those that joined us plus those that donated towards the Marine Toys for Tots Foundation.  We also thank our sponsors who made this event possible. They are AFG, CDM, Dewberry, ECS, Jacobs, Parsons, PBS&J, Schnabel, Turner, and URS (signs).  A new Photo Album of this event has been posted.

    • The 60th Celebration (above) allowed the post to make TWO $1,000 donations in early 2009. They went to the 249th Engineer Battalion Family Support Group and the Fort Belvoir Soldier and Family Assistance Center/Warriors In Transtion Unit.

    • Did you know?  That if you Google the three words (1) SAME, (2) BRAC, and (3) Belvoir, this website is the top choice!  Try it and see and just click "I'm Feeling Lucky".  See what visibility and information current SUSTAINING MEMBERS get from networking at our events.  It's not luck, so join our post now, don't get left behind, for membership click the society logo on this page and then the top link of "Join SAME".
