SAME Engineering and Construction Camp Application Process
For Posts - Recruiting and Sponsoring Students
Step–by–Step Process
- Determine that your Post will sponsor a student to attend an Engineering and Construction Camp. Each Post may sponsor one student per camp and also nominate an alternate to each of the SAME camps. (This pertains to USAFA and SEABEE Camps only and does not guarantee a spot to each Post; space is limited. The SAME Camp Registrar will notify the Posts and students when they are accepted. Please do not inform your student that they have been accepted to camp unless you have heard from the registrar.)
- Posts should consider lining up alternates for each camp. Alternates require the same forms be submitted, (payment can be withheld until notification of the final selection). The alternate will take the place of a student who drops out, or if space permits, the Post may be offered the opportunity for both the principal and alternate to attend.
- Develop a selection process for reviewing applications to ensure students meet your Post and the specific Camp/National qualification criteria. And set a deadline for students to submit applications to your Post.
- Reach out to local schools or other organizations to find students who may be interested in attending the camp. If the Post requires additional information from the student beyond what is specified on the camp Web site, please advise students.
- Posts should ensure that their POC form submitted to SAME HQ (click here) is recent and includes a Camp POC.
- Be sure to specify a deadline for students by which the Post must receive applications. Remember – a Post must submit the student’s complete application packet to the Camp Registrar no later than: USAFA—April 15, 2008, SEABEE—May 15, 2008. Please plan accordingly.
- Once you have identified a student candidate, direct the student to the SAME Camp Web site to fill out the application form and other related supplemental forms.
NOTE: A student interested in attending one of the engineering & construction camps may contact your Post on his or her own. Please provide the student with your Post deadline information.
- Once your Post has reviewed the applications it has received, select a nominee and send your nominee’s application and the $550 payment for the camp registration to the Camp Registrar before the above specified deadlines.
Note: The Post is responsible for collecting the student’s portion of the registration fee ($275). The Post may decide to waive this requirement and pay the entire registration fee on behalf of the student.

SAME Engineering and Construction Camp Selection Process
Primary applications will be reviewed by the SAME Engineering and Construction Camp Committee and Camp Registrar to ensure that the candidate meets all camp requirements. Posts will be notified once their camper is accepted to the program. Posts are guaranteed at least one slot to the camp contingent on the decision from the Camp Committee and on space availability.
A Post may submit a second application. All second applications will be reviewed by the Camp Committee and additional campers will be selected to attend the camp if space is available. If a post submits more then one applicant, please indicate on the application the primary candidate and the alternate. If you have questions about the selection process please contact Ron Brown at Rbbrown@sundt.com.
