2012 SCHOLARSHIP INFORMATION

The Society of Military Engineers (SAME), Emerald Coast Post, will offer several $1,000 scholarships to qualifying students in engineering or architectural programs, or high school seniors who will study engineering or architecture. At least one scholarship will be awarded to a high school senior and one to a college student.
NOTE: The
below requirements are from 2011…the 2012 requirements have not been set yet…
The scholarships are open to anyone who lives in, or whose parents live in, Okaloosa, Santa Rosa, or Walton counties. Applicants must meet the following minimum requirements:

Provide verification
of enrollment in an accredited undergraduate school of engineering or
architecture as a full-time student. High school seniors shall certify
that they intend to study engineering or architecture.

Demonstrate
academic excellence with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or greater.
·
Submit a
completed application package, which includes the following:
Ø Completed application form, including an essay on your career goals and why you are the best applicant for this scholarship (500 words or less).
Ø Copy of latest transcript showing GPA (minimum 3.0 on a scale of 4.0).
Ø Two Letters of Recommendation (one from math or science faculty member, and an additional recommendation from employer, other faculty member or advisor).
Applications will be judged on the following criteria (in order of importance):

Extracurricular
and community activities

Essay
NOTE: Preference will be given to applicants who are children of Emerald Coast Post members OR children of employees of sustaining member firms. Sponsor (Emerald Coast Post Member) information should be provided on application.
