The Society of American Military Engineers is a non-profit professional engineer association, headquartered in Alexandria, Virginia with chapters (called "Posts") worldwide.
- To improve and increase the engineering capabilities of the nation;
- To exchange and advance the knowledge of engineering technology, applications, and practices.
The Society was founded in 1920 to engage military and federal government engineers with those in private life, for the purpose of improving the engineering potential of the United States. Today, the Society has nearly 27,000 members from industry, military, and government organizations and academia.
