REGION GOALS AND
OBJECTIVES
LEADERSHIP Installation of Post Officers & Directors. Objective - Attend selected Post meetings and install the new Post officers & Directors. Objective - Recognize Post successes and outgoing officers. Provide a short RVP message at the meeting. COMMUNICATIONS Post Officers. Objective - Update and keep current the Middle Atlantic Region listing of Post officers. RVP Web site. Objective - Update the MAR Web site. (http://posts.same.org/midatlantic/posts.htm). Objective - Assign RVP Web master. Region Vice President Newsletter to Post Presidents. Objective - Create an electronic Newsletter for the Middle Atlantic Region Post Presidents. Send quarterly. Provide RVP message as "lead-in." Solicit input from Post Presidents to include past successful meeting and speakers. This could serve as a Region "Speaker's Bureau" for Posts to utilize. Post Presidents share with their Board of Direction. (Note: this could be located on the front page of the RVP Web site). RECOGNITION Distinguished Region. Goal - Distinguished Region for the next two years. Distinguished Posts. Objective - Six Distinguished Posts for the next two years. RVP Medals & Certificates. Objective - Actively solicit worthy candidates from Post President each year and present one per Post. TRAINING/WORKSHOPS Middle Atlantic Regional Conference. Goal - Conduct one regional conference, with Post President's Breakfast/Leadership Workshop, every 18 months. Host jointly with the Middle East Region. Objective - The Virginia Peninsula and Hampton Roads Posts plan to co-host a regional conference in the Williamsburg area in October 2007. About 18 months ago, the previous MAR Conference was hosted by the Northern Virginia Post in April 2005. 2012 National Conference. Goal - Host the 2012 National Conference. FYI - The Washington and Northern Virginia Posts submitted a joint RFP to host the 2011 National Conference in the Washington, DC area. The National Board of Direction selected the Fort Worth Post to host the 2011 National Conference. Objective - Resubmit the proposal to host the 2012 National Conference. (POC's: Mike Pavlides, Washington Post; Tom Delaney & Jim Donahue, Northern Virginia Post). MEMBERSHIP Objective - Region and all six Posts show net growth in Individual Members and Sustaining Members each year, winning the Membership Streamer award. Goldsboro NC Post. Objective - Investigate if the Goldsboro Post can be reactivated. Continuity of Post officers, especially USAF officers, essential for long-term viability and success. Advise SAME HQ accordingly (Bob Wolff; Steve Shepard). SCHOLARSHIPS Deputy RVP's. Objective - Employ both Pat Gaskins and Jim Donahue as Deputy RVP's. Jim to cover the Northern Posts (Washington, Northern Virginia, Blue Ridge) and Pat to cover the Southern Posts (Virginia Peninsula, Hampton Roads, and Coastal Carolina; perhaps Goldsboro). Deputies to attend Post meetings when RVP is unavailable and perform all RVP-related duties. RVP Secretary. Objective - Assign a person at ACC as the RVP Secretary. Secretary to perform all administrative functions and schedule RVP visits to Post meetings. Secretary to insure that all required Post Reports are current and mailed to SAME HQ.
