Each year SAME sponsors Engineering & Construction Camps for high school
students. This one week, world class camp is for HS students interested in
becoming an engineer. The camp is very hands-on, with activities ranging from
placing a concrete beam, wood construction, material testing, water purification
and many other engineering challenges. The camp is conducted at the United
States Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, where participants live and
eat on site. Supervision, training, coaching, mentoring and guidance is provided
a staff of over 30 engineers and other professionals. The Pikes Peak Post
generally only sponsors campers to the AFA camp.
SAME also conducts camps with the U.S. Navy Seabees at Port Hueneme, CA, Army Camp at Vicksburg, MS and USMC Camp LeJuene, NC.
