SAME Fellows are true leaders within the profession and SAME. Since 1972, SAME has bestowed the designation of Fellow to those members who have rendered dedicated and outstanding service to SAME and to military engineering. This prestigious designation has been awarded to more than 700 individuals to date.

The Academy of Fellows, organized in 1995, brings together all Fellows to further SAME’s missions and goals, and to take a lead role in support of the SAME mentoring programs. As a Fellow, members are expected to be actively involved in providing support, assistance and guidance to future engineers.

Each year, The Academy of Fellows sponsors TWO major events:

• The Investiture Ceremony, inducting new Fellows into The Academy.
  

• The Golden Eagle Awards Dinner, held each spring in Washington, D.C. This dinner honors two individuals - one an SAME member for contributions to the engineering profession and the other a non-member, for contributions to national security.

Fellow Eligibility: Individuals for the designation of Fellow must be a member of SAME for more than 10 years and must be nominated by a SAME member and endorsed by other Fellows. Nominations must be approved by the SAME Board of Direction.

The Academy now numbers more than 600 Fellows.
