Sustaining Engineering and the Sciences Award

Guidelines:

In an attempt to promote and maintain interest in engineering and the sciences, the Pittsburgh Post will present a continuing education award to deserving individuals to attend the Air Force Construction Camp in Colorado, the Navy Construction Camp in California, the U.S. Space Camp at Huntsville Alabama, or the Kennedy Space Center in Florida.

The student’s parents must make the travel arrangements. Candidate application for the award will be based upon Post Sponsorship and references. The candidate must be a student attending junior high school, high school and in the ninth grade or higher. Through application to the post, the candidate must show academic proficiency in math and science. Send a school transcript with your application. Other information to be gathered by application includes:

  • Listing of extracurricular activities demonstrating commitment to, and involvement in community activities.

  • Demonstration of spirit, attitude, and leadership qualities.

  • Demonstration of desire to pursue a career in engineering or the sciences.

  • Explanation of why the scholarship would be beneficial to his/her future plans.

  • Explain what you do with your time while you are not in school.

The Candidate must live in the Pittsburgh Post area and cannot win in successive years.

Applications and transcripts should be received by April 15, 2007.
