The mission of the Society of American Military Engineers is to promote and facilitate engineering support for national security by developing and enhancing relationships and competencies among uniformed services, public and private sector engineers, and related professionals. Who We Are Centered in Rock Island, Illinois, the Rock Island Post serves the Upper Mississippi River Valley, with members in Illinois, Iowa, Missouri, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Kansas, Indiana and Ohio. The post boasts over 250 individual members and over 35 sustaining member firms. Monthly meetings are held on the second Thursday of each month. In addition to hosting an annual golf outing and commander briefings, the post is also active in various community activities. Our November meeting will feature a presentation from Sue Coers of the Illinois Emergency Management Agency. Ms. Coers will discuss the mission of the Illinois Emergency Management Agency, and how they protect the State of Illinois through integrated approaches to Emergency Management and Homeland Security.
