Society of American Military Engineers

The mission of the Society of American Military Engineers is to promote and facilitate engineering support for national security by developing and enhancing relationships and competencies among uniformed services, public and private sector engineers, and related professionals.

Who We Are

Centered in Rock Island, Illinois, the Rock Island Post serves the Upper Mississippi River Valley, with members in Illinois, Iowa, Missouri, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Kansas, Indiana and Ohio. The post boasts over 250 individual members and over 35 sustaining member firms. Monthly meetings are held on the second Thursday of each month. In addition to hosting an annual golf outing and commander briefings, the post is also active in various community activities.

The July Post Notes.

The July meeting will be held on Thursday, July 9th at the Quad City Botanical Center in Rock Island, IL. The business brief will be conducted by Joan Freitag of Hanson Professional Services Inc., and the keynote address will feature a presentation from Colonel (Ret.) Thomas Hodgini and Ms. Barbara Lester of the recently established Rock Island New Orleans Support (RINOS) office. Tom and Barbara will discuss the Rock Island District’s new mission to help design and construct the greater New Orleans Area Hurricane and Storm Damage Risk Reduction System (HSDRRS) by 2011.
