Engineering & Construction Camps for Local High School Students

The Society of American Military Engineers (SAME), Rock Island Post is the proud sponsor of two Engineering and Construction Summer Camps designed to provide qualified high school students with hands-on experience in the field. Our goal is to promote engineering excellence and increased awareness among local high school students. The SAME Rock Island Post will pay the full tuition and airfare for up to three students who best fit the selection criteria. This is an opportunity for exceptional local students to meet similarly interested and talented youth from around the world.

The camps are held at the U.S. Air Force Academy (USAFA) near Colorado Springs, Colorado, at the Naval Base Ventura County (Seabees) in Port Hueneme, California, and at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina (Marine Corps). The respective dates of the camps are July 6-12, July 22-28 and June 17-23, 2012.

The application deadline for the USAFA Camp and the Seabees Camp is March 16, 2012. See the SAME national website for applications and the most current information about the SAME summer camps, including photos from previous camps.

Applications for the U.S. Air Force Academy, the U.S. Navy Seabees, and the U.S. Marine Corps Camps must be submitted to the Rock Island Post point of contact for summer camps, Lucie Sawyer, and received by March 16, 2012.
