Annual Program Review

The conference will provide a program overview from each district in SAD as well as some additional topics of interest such as the Centers of Standardization, Small Business and A/E Contracting. There will be a networking ice breaker the night before. A block of rooms has been set aside at the Marriott for $108/tax for the night of June 30th and July 1st. Please call to reserve now.

The Savannah SAME Post sponsored a one-day small business conference on Tuesday, April 14th, 2009 at the Savannah Marriott Riverfront at 100 General McIntosh Blvd. The 9th Annual College Scholarship Golf Tournament was held on Monday, April 13th at the Savannah Quarters Country Club. Registration began at 11:30 am with a shotgun start at 12:30 pm.

Following the tournament, an Ice Breaker event was held (open to all) at 5:30 in the main dining room at Savannah Quarters.

Sponsorship is available to benefit the Post Scholarship Fund. Sponsor will be recognized at the Golf Tournament, Ice Breaker and at the Small Business Conference the next day.

In considerations of SAME Nationals, the Savannah SAME post will NOT hold a regular monthly meeting during May.  Instead, we are planning a Riverboat Field Trip in Savannah on May 8th.  MACTEC's Margaret Tanner and Larry Neal will present "A Study of the Savannah River."  We will board the riverboat beside the Hyatt at 2 West Bay Street between 12:30 and 1:00 PM. for and return at 3:00.  Not quite a 3-hour tour, a 3-hour tour.  The cost is $50 for sustaining members and $30 for USACE personnel.  Lunch is part of the cruise package.  Parking is available at the Bryan Street Parking Garage just two blocks away for an hourly fee.

The guest speaker for the April meeting will be Mike Stieferman. Mike is the URS Program Manager for the Federal Aviation Administration. His presentation documents some of the key design and construction issues of the Atlanta Airport Traffic Control Tower.

Instead of a sustaining member presentation, this month we will hear about the plans and programs of the Savannah Engineering Academy/Ga Tech. Julie Sonnenberg-Klein, Project Director, Math, Science and Technology (MaST) Initiatives will present.
